Flori Kulture Gardens is dedicated to increasing the production and consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables through early childhood education. We support the development of edible teaching gardens on daycare and PreK-12 campuses across the country by providing design and technical consultations, garden install and maintenance services including all plants and materials, curriculum development and staff training, we provide an enhanced educational experience that is grounded in essential knowledge and skills curricula.
Research has shown that when children are involved in the cultivation process, they are more willing to taste the food they grow - even food that is unfamiliar to them. Our experience-based learning approach teaches children lessons about flowers, fruits and vegetables and about nutrition, agriculture and the environment that are guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Our design approach
Micro-Farm: We build these teaching gardens using a traditional row layout without wood or metal frames to edge the beds. You will need a location that receives at least 6 or more hours of direct sunlight, with a water source close by. Our installations, include: grass/weed removal, soil amendment and organic fertilizer application, organic starter plants or seeds, trellises for vining plants like tomatoes or cucumbers, compost/mulch, plant tags. Automated drip irrigation can also be installed for an additional fee.
Raised Bed Garden: For schools with space constraints, a raised bed garden is the perfect option for you. Our cedar planter boxes are naturally resistant to rot and insect damage, and we reduce our carbon footprint where possible by sourcing reclaimed wood. Package includes: wood, organic enriched soil blend, organic fertilize, organic starter plants of your choice planting your choice, bamboo trellises (for vining plants), compost/mulch, plant tags, plant care guide, and optional automated irrigation system (additional fee), optional netting (additional fee).
Installation packages range from $500 - $2900 depending on farm size and design choices.
